On our way to Kaiteriteri (a very long drive from Christchurch for a long weekend) we took the scenic route from Bleinheim along the Queen Charlotte Drive. This painting is based on one of the amazing views along that bumpy, winding road! On a trip from Christchurch to Queenstown we went past many lakes and rivers with beautiful bright turquoise water. The blue of the water was such a big contrast with the orange of the trees! Nearly in Queenstown we stopped in wanaka for a breather and a strech and found the sunset over the lake looking like "vanilla sky". Driving around Te Aroha late in the evening I saw the sun giving a red glow over the mountain.
